【摘要】:Pertainstomethodsoffireteststhatareapplicabletodoorassembliesofvariousmaterialsandtypesofconstructionforuseinwallopeningstoretardthepassageoffire.Testsmadeinconformitywiththesetestmethodswillregisterperformanceduringthetestexposure;butsuchtestsshallnotbeconstruedasdeterminingsuitabilityforuseafterexposuretofire.Itistheintentthattestsmadeinconformitywiththesetestmethodswilldevelopdatatoenableregulatorybodiestodeterminethesuitabilityofdoorassembliesforuseinlocationswherefireresistanceofaspecifieddurationisrequired.Thesemethodsareintendedtoevaluatetheabilityofadoorassemblytoremaininanopeningduringapredeterminedtestexposure.Thetestsexposeaspecimentoastandardfireexposurecontrolledtoachievespecifiedtemperaturesthroughoutaspecifiedtimeperiod,followedbytheapplicationofaspecifiedstandardfirehosestream.Theexposure,however,maynotberepresentativeofallfireconditions,whichmayvarywithchangesintheamount,nature,anddistributionoffireloading,ventilation,compartmentsizeandconfiguration,heatsinkcharacteristicsofthecompartment.Itdoes,however,providearelativemeasureoffireperformanceofdoorassembliesunderthesespecifiedfireexposureconditions.Anyvariationfromtheconstructionorconditionsthataretestedmaysubstantiallychangetheperformancecharacteristicsoftheassembly.Themethodsdonotprovidefullinformationastoperformanceofalldoorassembliesinwallsconstructedofmaterialsotherthanthosetested;evaluationofthedegreebywhichthedoorassemblycontributestotheriskoffirebygenerationofsmoke,toxicgases,orotherproductsofcombustion;atemperaturelimitontheunexposedsideofthedoorassembly;alimitonthenumberofopeningsallowedinglazedareasorofthenumberandsizeoflateralopeningsbetweenthedoorandframe;measurementofthedegreeofcontrolorlimitationofthepassageofsmokeorproductsofcombustionthroughthedoorassembly.Thisstandardwaslistedforpublicreviewinthe7/17/1998issueofStandardsAction.Itisbeingresubmittedduetosubstantivechangestothetext.
