【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesameanstomeasureavarietyoffire-test-responsecharacteristicsassociatedwithsmokeobscurationandresultingfromburningtheelectricalinsulatingmaterialscontainedinelectricaloropticalfibercables.Thespecimensareallowedtoburnfreelyunderwellventilatedconditionsafterignitionbymeansofapropanegasburner.Smokeobscurationquantifiesthevisibilityinfires.Thistestmethodisalsosuitableformeasuringtherateofheatreleaseasanoptionalmeasurement.Therateofheatreleaseoftenservesasanindicationoftheintensityofthefiregenerated.Otheroptionalfire-test-responsecharacteristicsthataremeasurablebythistestmethodareusefultomakedecisionsonfiresafety.Themostimportantgaseouscomponentsofsmokearethecarbonoxides,presentinallfires.Theyaremajorindicatorsofthetoxicityoftheatmosphereandofthecompletenessofcombustionandareoftenusedaspartoffirehazardassessmentcalculationsandtoimprovetheaccuracyofheatreleasemeasurements.Othertoxicgases,whicharespecifictocertainmaterials,arelesscrucialfordeterminingcombustioncompleteness.TestLimitations:Thefire-test-responsecharacteristicsmeasuredinthistestmethodarearepresentationofthemannerinwhichthespecimenstestedbehaveundercertainspecificconditions.Donotassumetheyarerepresentativeofagenericfireperformanceofthematerialstestedwhenmadeintocablesoftheconstructionunderconsideration.Inparticular,itisunlikelythatthistestmethodisanadequaterepresentationofthefirebehaviorofcablesinconfinedspaces,withoutabundantcirculationofair.Thisisanintermediate-scaletest,andthepredictabilityofitsresultstolargescalefireshasnotbeendetermined.Someinformationexiststosuggestthatithasbeenvalidatedagainstsomelarge-scalescenarios.1.1Thisisafire-test-responsestandard.1.2Thistestmethodprovidesameanstomeasurethesmokeobscurationresultingfromburningelectricalinsulatingmaterialscontainedinelectricaloropticalfibercableswhenthecablespecimens,excludingaccessories,aresubjectedtoaspecifiedflamingignitionsourceandburnfreelyunderwellventilatedconditions.1.3Thistestmethodprovidestwodifferentprotocolsforexposingthematerials,whenmadeintocablespecimens,toanignitionsource(approximately20kW),fora20mintestduration.Useittodeterminetheflamepropagationandsmokereleasecharacteristicsofthematerialscontainedinsingleandmulticonductorelectricaloropticalfibercablesdesignedforuseincabletrays.1.4Thistestmethoddoesnotprovideinformationonthefireperformanceofelectricaloropticalfibercablesinfireconditionsotherthantheonesspecificallyusedinthistestmethodnordoesitmeasurethecontributionofthecablestoadevelopingfirecondition.1.5Datadescribingtheburningbehaviorfromignitiontotheendofthetestareobtained.1.6Theproductionoflightobscuringsmokeismeasured.1.7Theburningbehaviorisdocumentedvisually,byphotographicorvideorecordings,orboth.1.8Thetestequipmentissuitableformakingother,optional,measurements,includingtherateofheatreleaseoftheburningspecimen,byanoxygenconsumptiontechniqueandweightloss.1.9Anothersetofoptionalmeasurementsaretheconcentrationsofcertaintoxicgasspeciesinthecombustiongases.1.10ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.(See
