【摘要】:Thistestmethodmeasuresthetimetoextrapolatedonsetofanexothermicreactionunderconstanttemperature(isothermal)conditionsforreactionswhichhaveaninductionperiod,forexample,thosewhicharecatalyticorautocatalyticinnatureorwhichcontainreactioninhibitors.TheRITdeterminedbythistestmethodisanindexmeasurementthatisusefulforcomparingonematerialtoanotheratthetesttemperatureofinterestandinthesameapparatustypeonly.Thistestmethodisausefuladjuncttodynamicthermaltests,suchasTestMethodE537,whichareperformedunderconditionsinwhichthesampletemperatureisincreasedcontinuouslyatconstantrate.Resultsobtainedunderdynamictestconditionsmayresultinhigherestimatesoftemperatureatwhichanexothermicreactioninitiatesbecausethedetectedonsettemperatureisdependentupontheheatingrateandbecausedynamicmethodsallowinsufficienttimeforautocatalyticreactionstomeasurablyaffecttheonsettemperature.RITvaluesdeterminedunderaseriesofisothermaltestconditionsmaybeplottedastheirlogarithmversusthereciprocaloftheabsolutetemperaturetoproduceaplot,theslopeofwhichisproportionaltotheactivationenergyofthereactionasdescribedinTestMethodE2070.Thistestmethodmaybeusedinresearchanddevelopment,manufacturing,processandqualitycontrol,andregulatorycompliance.ThistestmethodissimilartothatforOxidationInductionTime(OIT)(forexample,SpecificationD3350andTestMethodsD3895,D4565,D5483,D6186,andE1858)wherethetimetotheoxidationreactionunderisothermaltestconditionsismeasured.TheOITtestmethodmeasuresthepresenceofantioxidantpackagesandisarelativemeasurementofamaterial''sresistancetooxidation.1.1ThistestmethoddescribesthemeasurementofReactionInductionTime(RIT)ofchemicalmaterialsthatundergoexothermicreactionswithaninductionperiod.Thetechniquesandapparatusdescribedmaybeusedforsolids,liquids,orslurriesofchemicalsubstances.Thetemperaturerangecoveredbythistestmethodistypicallyfromambientto400x00B0;C.Thisrangemaybeextendeddependingupontheapparatusused.1.2TheRITisarelativeindexvalue,notanabsolutethermodynamicproperty.Asanindexvalue,theRITvaluemaychangedependinguponexperimentalconditions.AcomparisonofRITvaluesmaybemadeonlyformaterialstestedundersimilarconditionsofapparatus,specimensize,andsoforth.Furthermore,theRITvaluemaynotpredictbehavioroflargequantitiesofmaterial.1.3TheRITshallnotbeusedbyitselftoestablishasafeoperatingtemperature.Itmaybeusedinconjunctionwithothertestmethods(forexample,E487,E537,andE1981)aspartofahazardanalysisofaparticularoperation.1.4ThistestmethodmaybeusedforRITvaluesgreaterthan15min(asrelativeimprecisionincreasesatshorterperiods).1.5Thistestmethodisusedtostudycatalyticandautocatalyticreactions.Thesereactionsdependupontimeaswellastemperature.Suchreactionsareoftenstudiedbyfixingoneexperimentalparameter(thatis,timeortemperature)andthenmeasuringtheotherparameter(thatis,temperatureortime).Thistestmethodmeasurestimetoreactiononsetdetectionunderisothermalconditions.ItisrelatedtoTestMethodE487thatmeasuresdetectedreactiononsettemperatureunderconstanttimeconditions1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardeda......
